The Durham Forest Environmental Education Centre, which is located on the Oak Ridges Moraine just south of Uxbridge, provides residential outdoor education experiences for grade 6 students of the Durham District School Board.
With over 400 hectares of Regional Forest and 100 kilometres of trails at our doorstep, we are able to provide a wide variety of hands on, curriculum based activities for visiting students. For many children, their visit to Durham Forest is the first time they have experienced a night away from home, an after-dark hike in the forest or even a campfire. The food provided by our cook "Mama Bear" is kid friendly and can be adapted for special dietary needs.
Our staff strives to create a warm and friendly atmosphere which makes living, working and learning together a fun and memorable experience.
